Our role

Conservation with local knowledge

MRPO brings scientific research and local knowledge together through community projects and conservation partnerships.

Our 2026 priorities include COMET with ThinkAqua, ghost gear recovery campaigns and developing a coral reef monitoring plan with partners.

Our mission

To protect, conserve, and restore Cambodia's marine ecosystems for food security, economic opportunity, community well-being, and environmental sustainability. We achieve this through scientific research, local wisdom, and innovative practices.

How we work

Respect for local rights and knowledge, integrity, inclusion and innovation guide our work. Community participation and technical partnerships connect these principles to field activities.
