Building skills for community mangrove tourism

Phallin Chea and the MRPO team helped deliver COMET training alongside ThinkAqua specialists Elizabeth Ashton and John Lennon. Health and tourism departments and the Cambodia Tourism Association also contributed.
The programme combines mangrove conservation with practical skills for community tourism, helping local groups develop visitor services and coastal livelihoods.
Putting ideas into practice
Across the six communities, the work extends to nurseries, visitor facilities, boats and local tourism businesses. Communities have developed business identities and Facebook pages. At Tumnob Rolok, activities include coastal cleanup, a mangrove nursery and educational signs.
